About Fahmi

Tell us about yourself.

I’m a New Yorker, born and raised. This concrete jungle is bursting with culture and life. When I’m not trying to make sense of the stock market, I’m at the opera, cracking codes at the Museum of Math, or on a boat shucking oysters and sipping champagne.

Why did you join Deallus?

I joined Deallus because I wanted to gain experience in the corporate world and industry prior to dedicating the next decade to a PhD in mathematics (which never happened!).  I found Deallus to be small and nimble and being the go-getter that I am, this meant I would have opportunities as long as I’m hungry. I’m also used to academic cultures and I felt the camaraderie and braininess of those at Deallus would challenge me while making me feel at home.

What was your favorite thing about working at Deallus?

No one cared how many titles I had after my name. My work was acknowledged and respected and I was able to move quickly into leadership roles without worrying about bureaucratic red tape.

How has your time at Deallus developed you and help set you up for success in your new role?

Most obviously, Deallus helped build my understanding of the industry – from how drugs get from the lab to FDA approval, to the correlation between management behavior and company performance. Deallus also helped me hone my deep research skills, which come in handy now.

Deallus also helped mature my sense of self. When I started, I only really cared about academic pursuit. Over my time there, I realized that I wanted to be investor who can identify both fortune and fraud within the healthcare sector.

What advice would you have for someone joining Deallus?

Deallus is unlike other consulting shops, and that is its beauty. You’ll never feel like a cog in a machine where your role goes unnoticed. Everyone has equal opportunity for impactful work, you just need to be ready to take it on.
