Manufacturing & Supply Strategy

To remain competitive and productive today’s manufacturing processes and supply chain logistics have to be more flexible and nimble than ever, while meeting new demands in a ferociously competitive global environment. Deallus helps companies build a lasting competitive advantage at all levels of their operation, from product development, planning and sourcing to manufacturing and distribution. We specialise in providing high-level strategies, allowing companies to maximise value and preserve margins across complete portfolios and across all markets.

Product Optimization Strategy

Issue:

  • Our client, a global pharma company, was unable to meet market demands in sufficient time despite multiple shortages being reported by global authorities. A strategy was required to proactively improve product supply to dictate strategic sourcing, contracting, manufacturing and allocation.

Solution:

  • Deallus created a revenue-enhancing capability that allowed for the optimization of product supply globally, the reduction of costs and reaction time, whilst ensuring minimized patient risk due to lack of supply. Due to the implementation of Deallus’ solution, the client was able to leverage additional revenues in the 3 digit million dollar range.

COGs Evaluation

Issue:

  • Aggressive year–on-year competitive price discounting in the US placed a client’s high margin biologic at future risk of discontinuation. The client wanted to understand the dynamics that allowed for market price erosion and to understand if they would still be able to compete in this space in the future.

Solution:

  • Deallus analysed the competitive landscape to determine which manufacturers posed a real threat to our client. We also determined where cost-savings may have been made across the supply chain or in the manufacturing process to allow for a reduction in COGs. Through this Deallus was able to determine how long our client could remain competitive in this increasingly crowded market.

Manufacturer Benchmarking/Patent Expiry Planning

Issue:

  • With the looming patent expiry of a top 10 CVM product, our client wanted to better understand the capabilities of potential generic manufacturers and their ability to competitively enter the EU and key emerging markets.

Solution:

  • Deallus used propriety methods to determine likely future competitors. We were then able to benchmark these manufacturers on their production capabilities, COGs and to project likely future filing, registration and launch strategies in the disparate EU market and in certain high revenue but complex emerging markets.

Supply Chain Mapping/Due Dilligence

Issue:

  • The potential acquisition of a late phase prescription product was being delayed due to uncertainty in its competitive advantage over more established assets which were both prescription-based and supplied over-the-counter. The client wanted to be better informed before this acquisition was completed.

Solution:

  • Deallus conducted a thorough assessment of the changing competitive landscape and its impact on shared and finite natural resources. An increased strain on the shared resources was deemed likely to cause a significant price increase on key raw materials. The ability to identify alternative supply sources/source types or improve manufacturing yield were identified as key factors in determining financial viability. This analysis was a key factor in the clients’ decision not to acquire the product.
